You Know You Know

You Know You Know

when you know, you know you know
the question 'why' like this or like that
this the hurt that the star
the way it touches - like a sword
yours and mine - the rage the death
but when you know, you know you know
it was, it is, it will be

How you know, you know you know
far away yet intimate
only absolute beginners seek to feel the song
hear it taste it, music in the heart
a legacy like sunshine rain and snow
free to fall on all is
but how you know, you know you know
it was, it is, it will be

what you know, you know you know
starman, hero, major Tom exits
the remains shine another day
another time and on another soul
carries on the echo of his song
deep into an overcrowded sanctuary
but what you know, you know you know
it was, it is, it will be

where you know, you know you know
here and there - now and then
invisible yet seen - intimate and close
for the dance and the china girl
In red shoes on the sand in the hills
the thin white duke takes to serious moonlight
and molds the world anew
it was, it is, it will be

David Bowie born 8th January 1947-died 10th January 2016

20th January 2016
Footnote: I was sitting in my car outside the Salvos and heard the news come over the car radio. It was a shock; I could not believe it David Bowie dead!!! I am aware some people did not 'get' Bowie's music - I did. At the time I was making cartoons and in some sense 'Ziggy Stardust' appeared to emulate the idea.

It is now ten days since David Bowie died. This morning I woke with words going around in my head - some of them are Bowie's, but I didn't worry about that and just wrote words out anyway - here they are.
